As shown, there is plenty of case studies point out that AR technology is feasible towards architecture design field. From the collaboration between Inition and Zaha Hadid Architects we know that there are architect firms started to acknowledge the assets of AR technology and implement it into their project, which further improve the communication between the design team and the client. Besides, the implementation of AR has allowed the collaboration between the design team with other team of experts to go smoother with the amount of data provided by Inition via AR.
ARki
As client’s perception towards the detail of the project is always a major problem for the design team, ARki has proved that with AR technology they could make the design process to be more transparent by visualise the project via AR technology. With the convenient way of use of ARki by simply pointing a device on a 2D plan, the technology could also replace the bulky physical model with just a designated 2D plan and a mobile device for presentation.
VTT Finland
Conservative opinion towards new design is also a major concern and difficulty for design team to develop new designs as people would feel afraid to the impact of new design. With AR technology, VTT Finland has bring in the city officers and local residents for evaluation and understanding towards the proposed projects on site which allows better understanding before making decision on the projects. Throughout the demonstration, AR was proved to be a highly useful tools to allow the users to visualize the building plan intuitively. From the user's point of view, AR technology facilitated the procedure of decision making for the city officers regarding to the building plan, and enhances the understanding of the building plans for the local residents.
Among the case studies that I have done, it has determined that AR technology has the aspect to become feasible on architecture and design industry. Whether it is on context understanding, architectural visualisation or design communication, the case studies have shown that AR could fulfil the objectives innovatively. However, it also shows that much investment and development have to be committed as the technology is still under development stage and cost a lot to acquire.
